Mikael brings over 35 years of experience and knowledge to the team as president and owner of IME. He started his career as an elevator engineer at KBM-Elevators in Sweden in 1982. Once KONE acquired KBM in ’93, Mikael joined KONE’s engineering team in Linköping, Sweden.
During his time with KONE, Sweden, Mikael broadened his expertise and worked with modernization, advanced repairs, new building, and maintenance on all elevator brands existing in the district until 2003. He then joined the MacGregor organization as a senior marine elevator engineer and focused mostly on annual inspections.
In 2005, KONE (Marine Elevators LLC) acquired MacGregor, at which time Mikael was promoted to Sales and Project Manager. During his time as Sales and Project Manager, he was responsible for budgets as well as the largest modernization projects KONE had in the marine environment.
Mikael joined INTERNATIONAL MARINE ELEVATORS INC as president and part owner in 2010. In 2015, he acquired the company and is now the sole owner.
After finishing school at 16 years old in 1975, Sven started at KONE Hissar AB Sweden, where his two older brothers were already working. As an apprentice, he started with installations of new elevators and later moved on to modernization and work as a troubleshooter/specialist.
In 1993, Sven left the field and moved to KONE’s R&D Department in Sweden, where he learned both mechanical and electrical CAD design. He produced manufacturing drawings and documentation, such as instruction manuals and modernization methods.
In March 1999, Sven, his wife Sandra, and their children decided to move to Florida, USA, where he started with MacGregor Passenger Ship Division as a Service Coordinator and later became the Sr. Service Engineer onboard cruise ships for MacGregor and then KONE Marine after KONE acquired MacGregor Group in 2005. From 2006 to 2010, Sven held the position of Spare Parts Manager at KONE, where he remained until June 2010, when he felt it was time to leave KONE after nearly 35 years of service.
Sven then moved on to the role of Sales & Project Manager for International Marine Elevators (IME), where he remained until February 2013. At that time, he accepted a position as Spare Parts Sales Manager with RGB Electrical Services and Supplies.
In 2017, Sven returned to IME as President of IME America, bringing decades of elevator and marine industry experience back to the company.
Brittany brings over 13 years of management experience to IME. Her professional journey commenced as a Branch Manager for GardaWorld Cash Logistics. She later further developed her leadership skills at ALDI, where she played a pivotal role in launching a new store in Chattanooga, TN.
Prior to joining IME, Brittany worked aboard vessels in the Florida Keys as a scuba instructor. Her experience in the marine environment, combined with her background in management, provided a natural foundation for her transition into the marine elevator industry.
In 2023, Brittany joined IME as Service Manager and has since transitioned into her current role as Director of Operations. She oversees the company's day-to-day operations and coordinates many aspects of IME's service and business activities, working closely with customers, technicians, suppliers, and company leadership.
Outside of work, Brittany enjoys singing and performing, spending time near the water, and, of course, time with her dog, Kiwi.
